Winner of the 2024 Wedding Industry Award for Bridal Hair and Makeup, Haylee is celebrated for her dedication to excellence and her ability to bring each bride’s vision to life.
Haylee has worked with renowned photographers in the PR and corporate sectors and is known for her ability to create flawless, personalised looks for both editorial and private clients. Her commitment to ongoing training and staying ahead of trends ensures every client feels confident, radiant, and unforgettable.
My Story
I didn’t exactly plan to become a professional makeup artist—it just happened organically. At 18, I was teaching vintage hair and makeup classes without any formal training, relying only on what I’d taught myself. A friend asked me to help her burlesque company by teaching the dancers how to create the hairstyles and makeup looks they needed for their shows. From there, I found myself directing a live demonstration on retro hairstyling and makeup for an expo at the Queensland Museum—a pivotal moment where my passion truly ignited.

At first, I thought hair and makeup would remain a side gig, but I wanted to explore it further. I earned a diploma in beauty therapy, thinking it might be my long-term career. However, it quickly became clear that my true calling was always in hair and makeup artistry.

After stepping back from work to have my two boys, I was ready to re-enter the workforce but struggled to find the right path. I wanted flexibility for my family and didn’t want to work for someone else again.
Family and friends often asked me to do their hair and makeup for weddings and events, so I decided to take a leap.
In just four years, my business has flourished. Today, I lead a team of talented artists and serve hundreds of clients annually.
In only my second year of entering, I was honoured to win the Brisbane Wedding Industry Award for Bridal Hair and Makeup.
